Police have issued a statement.

Thousands of drugs have been seized following a dance festival in Sydney over the weekend.

While News Corp is reporting a 25-year-old woman is fighting for her life in hospital, police have issued a statement advising that more than 3,500 MDMA capsules were seized and 13 punters were charged at the Midnight Mafia event held at Sydney Showground on Saturday.

256 festivalgoers sought medical treatment during the festival, while three people were taken to hospital for further treatment.

A 21-year-old female was arrested after being found with almost 1,600 MDMA caps, while another 21-year-old female was found carrying nearly 550 pills.

"We saw more drugs seized today than recent events, one of the largest we’ve seen, which clearly shows our messaging is not getting through," Detective Chief Inspector Gus Viera said.

"I am extremely disappointed with these results; however, we will continue to conduct these operations at upcoming festivals throughout the year.

"Those intent on bringing illicit drugs into these events will be caught, charged and put before the courts."

It comes after Australia held its first pill testing trial at Groovin The Moo's Canberra event last weekend, which was deemed a huge success.

Speaking to The Music, CEO of Noffs Foundation Matt Noffs who was instrumental in the trial going ahead, said, "Being able to sit down and spend time with these people and giving them information… that was the most important part."
