Australian Artists Dominate Major International Songwriting Competition

Some of Australia's biggest and brightest music talent have dominated the US-based International Songwriting Competition, following the announcement of its 2017 winners. 

Amy Shark took out first place in the Adult Album Alternative category with AdoreShane Nicholson won the Americana slot with Busted Lip, Wollongong artist Fletcher Gull's Light Up was awarded top honours in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter category, Dean Lewis picked up the Performance gong for WavesRuel's Don't Tell Me took out the Pop/Top 40 list and Perth's Strictly DT won the R&B/Hip Hop category with Love Not Lust.

There were even more local second and third placings in the competition; Wren placed in second in the Music Video category for SecretsMissy HigginsTorchlight and Washington's Catherine Wheel placed in second and third respectively in the Performance category, as did Lewis' Waves and Vera Blue's Lady Powers in the Pop/Top 40 category.

Meanwhile, Birds Of Tokyo took out second place in the Rock category with BraceElki also nabbed a #2 finish in the Unpublished category with Golden Age and Gawurra placed at third in the World category with Wunybul (Vine Of Love).

Honourable mentions were also awarded to names like Angie McMahon, Alex The Astronaut, Dustin Tebbutt, Holy Holy, Georgi Kay and many more.
