And it's out today!

More Judas Priest More Judas Priest

49 years and running stronger than ever, iconic UK outfit Judas Priest are back today with their 18th studio album, Firepower.

Comprised of 14 tracks that scream pure metal, the band reunited with producer Tom Allom (the man behind all of the group's releases between 1979-1988), including the classic British Steel album, and brought in Grammy award-winning producer Andy Sneap to get the right mix of classic sounds and new ideas.

"Tom Allom has got this classic metal thing and Andy is a bit more of a 'modern metal producer' but his thinking is a little bit different to Tom’s," singer Rob Halford explained.

"I think to get this balance between that classic old school metal to what Andy’s world is was just a remarkable coalescence."

Firepower marks Judas Priest's first LP since 2014’s Redeemer Of Souls, with the new cut heralding a return to a recording style beloved by the band in earlier releases.

"We went back to the organic way of recording where it’s all of us in a room and we got to play together," drummer Scott Travis said.

The last 12 months has been a rollercoaster for the West Bromwich-founded band; as well as recording the new album, they've also been nominated for the 2018 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and are now gearing up for their huge world tour which will kick off in the US next week.

As a special treat for long-time fans, Firepower will be released as a limited edition Twilight double vinyl, exclusive double red vinyl, double black vinyl and deluxe mediabook edition, as well as on CD and digitally.

Firepower is out today; check out the album below, including first single Lightning Strike.
