The relaunch of Australia's oldest and largest commercial recording studio, Sydney's iconic Studios 301, went down last night and we were there to catch all of the action. 

The design of the new $12 million complex, a collaboration between studio owner and audio education pioneer Dr Tom Misner and Jochen Veith, ensures that 301 is not only Australia's premier recording studio, but that it will now compete with the best studios globally.

A who's who of the Australian music industry attended the launch, including members from The Preatures, DMA'S, The Jezabels and Coda Conduct, as well as Universal Music Australia Managing Director Michael Taylor and Sony Music's Head of A&R, Paul Harris. 

The night was also graced with the presence of mega-producer and multiple Grammy Award winner, Steve Lillywhite (The Rolling Stones, U2).

In support of The Music's Producer Series podcast, host Neil Griffiths sat down ahead of the launch to talk about the complex, equipment and future plans with Misner, as well as 301 producer and engineer, Simon Cohen and the company's Chief Mastering Engineer, Steve Smart.
