This actually happened.

More Human League More Human League

In the most un-rock'n'roll thing you'll hear about this week, The Human League singer Joanne Catherall was denied entry into the Qantas business class lounge at Melbourne airport due to the fact she was wearing ugg boots.

As noted by Fairfax, the UK artist was barred from the lounge on Thursday as ugg boots are considered sleepwear.

"Boots are deemed sleepwear by the lady working there although no problem in any of the other lounges so far," Catherall tweeted.

"Helpfully she suggested I go to one of the shops & purchase some shoes."

Qantas were forced to issue a statement after Catherall noted she was not denied entry into the Perth or Adelaide business class lounges while wearing uggs.

"We completely understand that no one likes being declined at the door but we've always had smart casual dress standards for our lounges, which are similar for those in place for most clubs and restaurants," a spokesperson for Qantas said.

"Over the past couple of years we have had clear feedback from lounge members that they wanted these existing guidelines to be applied more rigorously."

The Human League will wrap up their Australian tour with two shows in Queensland this weekend; click on theGuide for more details.
