Louise Post, singer and guitarist of US alt-rock outfit Veruca Salt, is one of dozens of women who have accused Hollywood director James Toback of sexual harrassment.

In a new report by the LA Times, 38 women have spoken out about their own encounters with the Academy-Award nominated filmmaker.

Post, who is set to tour Australia with Veruca Salt next February, said she met Toback in 1987 when she was a student at Barnard College.

"He told me he'd love nothing more than to masturbate while looking into my eyes," Post said.

"Going to his apartment has been the source of shame for the past 30 years, that I allowed myself to be so gullible."

The musician continued, "Today, I cried for the first time since then about it. I was crying for the 20-year-old woman who lost something vital that day — her innocence."

Just days ago, the band joined the #metoo movement on Twitter, while also adding a James Toback hashtag.

Toback has denied all of the allegations, telling LA Times that he had never met any of the women or, if he did, it "was for five minutes and have no recollection".
