Networks went head-to-head.

More Jimmy Barnes More Jimmy Barnes

Aussie legend Jimmy Barnes and Irish artist Niall Horan went head-to-head on Sunday night television, but it was the One Direction member who emerged victorious.

As TV Tonight reports, while Barnes' appearance on Seven's Sunday Night (7pm) attracted 591,000 viewers, the Nine Network's 60 Minutes (8.30pm) interview with Horan pulled well ahead, drawing an audience of 865,000.

It should be noted though that Sunday Night did not screen in Perth as the Telethon aired between 6.30pm-8.30pm.

Neither were the night's most-watched shows however, as Sunday Night and 60 Minutes finished eight and sixth respectively.

Instead, the most-watched programme on Sunday was again Nine's The Block (1,507,000) while even ABC's Craig McLachlan-led drama, The Doctor Blake Mysteries (944,000) attracted a bigger viewership than the high-profile musician interviews.

While Horan will return to Australia in 2018 for a solo tour, Barnes is set to kick off a huge 30-date run of the country in March in support of his new memoir, Working Class Man; click on theGuide for more details.
