The You Am I guitarist puts psych legend Syd Barrett in the spotlight for three special gigs this December.

Celebrated Australian muso Davey Lane and his band Effervescing Elephants will take on Pink Floyd's seminal debut album The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn in a series of tribute shows to band founder Syd Barrett.

Joined by special guest guitarist and vocalist Robyn Hitchcock, Lane and his players will canvass not only the 1967 classic — the only full Pink Floyd album to be recorded under Barrett's stewardship — but select cuts from across the musician's solo career, which only manifested two studio albums (and several consequent compilations) but nonetheless remains a rich and revered well of ambitious, inventive material with which to play.

Along with Lane and Hitchcock, the tour's musicians include drummer Rusty Hopkinson (You Am I), keyboardist Dan Mansfield (The Gin Club) and guitarist/vocalist Ashley Naylor (Even).

The journey starts at Melbourne's Corner Hotel on Friday 1 December, and heads on to additional showings in Sydney (Manning Bar) and Perth (Badlands) over the next two nights.
