Having taken out the $7500 Josh Pyke Partnership earlier this year, Melbourne singer-songwriter Angie McMahon is ready to share her first single, Slow Mover, announcing a pair of shows in support of the release to boot.

McMahon will head up to Sydney on Thursday 26 October to play the Brighton Up Bar in service of the new tune, returning home to hit the Workers Club on Thursday 2 November.

The song's release comes after several months of work following her JPP win, which included hands-on mentorship from Pyke himself.

According to a (handwritten!) statement from McMahon, Slow Mover "celebrates being uncertain and taking plenty of time to get to a good place".

"I sat on these lyrics for months, and wanted to frame the song so it didn't sound too sad," she said. "After locking myself in a room and listening to Mia Dyson one night, I came up with this guitar part and 'fried chicken' lyric, and had a lot of fun finishing the track.

"I feel very lucky to be throwing this one out into the world with loving and happy hands. I hope you like it."
