Linkin Park Flood ARIA Charts In The Wake Of Chester Bennington's Death

Three albums surge into top five of the chart.

As predicted in the midweek charts, Linkin Park have surged toward the top of the ARIA charts this week in the wake of frontman Chester Bennington's death.

The US outfit's debut album, Hybrid Theory, has soared into the #2 spot of the Albums chart (the same position it peaked at following its release in 2000), while their May-released LP, One More Light, came in at #4, 2003 sophomore effort, Meteora, placed at #5 and 2007's Minutes To Midnight charted at #7.

Other Linkin Park records to re-enter the Albums chart this week included the Collision Course collaboration with Jay Z (#28), The Hunting Party (#38), Living Things (#40), A Thousand Suns (#47), the Studio Collection compilation (#49), live record, Road To Revolution: Live At Milton Keynes (#59) and the Reanimation remix (#84).

Works from legendary Indigenous musician Dr G Yunupingu have also re-emerged in the Albums chart following his death on Tuesday.

The multi award-winning musician's 2008 self-titled debut LP charted at #27, his 2015-released The Gospel Album at #26 and 2011's Rrakala at #81.

Amidst the surge of Linkin Park works, Lana Del Rey was successful in taking Ed Sheeran's ÷ (Divide) down from the #1 spot with her new offering, Lust For Life, pushing the UK superstar's long-running chart-topper down to #3.

Meanwhile, kd lang's Ingénue, which the Canadian songwriter is currently touring Australia for in support of its 25th anniversary, has pushed its way back into the chart to place at #30.

Other albums debuting on the chart this week include burgeoning Aussie artist Vera Blue's Perennial (#6) and Tyler, The Creator's Flower Boy (#8).

Over on the Singles chart, a number of Linkin Park tracks are spread across the list, led by their 2001 classic, In The End, at #10 and 2003's Numb at #18.

Other songs from the band that have charted in the top 100 this week include Heavy (#39), What I've Done (#40), Numb/Encore (#48), One Step Closer (#49), Shadow Of The Day (#59), Somewhere I Belong (#62), Leave Out All The Rest (#68), Crawling (#70), Breaking The Habit (#71), Bleed It Out (#73), One More Light (#85), Faint (#87), New Divide (#90) and Papercut (#91).

Meanwhile, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's Despacito, featuring Justin Bieber, has held onto the #1 spot for a tenth-straight week.
