Beers, and undoubtedly good times, were had by all.

We love it when a story has a happy ending.

Back in April, renowned director Edgar Wright made it known that he is quite the fan of Australia's King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, even expressing interest, over Twitter, in directing one of the band's future video clips.

As The Music reported earlier this week, that team-up may very well still be on the cards, though getting such projects off the ground are never as easy in practice as they are in theory.

As Wright told interviewer Neil Griffiths, "Those things are easier to say than they are to do, because it's then about schedules and stuff."

But, look, baby steps are better than no steps; during the interview, the filmmaker (who's in the country to promote his new flick, Baby Driver), said that "hopefully, I'm actually going to meet them in Melbourne".

And we appreciate his follow-through, because he bloody well did. Not a bad night for King Gizz, either, who got to enjoy a screening of the film and meet the director all in one go.

"It happened," Wright posted on Instagram with a photo of himself and several of the band's members. "I went to Melbourne and had beers with @KingGizzard (and the Lizard Wizard)."

"Nonagon Infinity Opens The Door!" he enthused, referencing the band's 2016 full-length album (which he told The Music he "really, really loved and listened to a lot").

Now that the personal connection has been made, maybe there'll be a greater chance of the much-wished-for visual collaboration to eventuate.

Schedules permitting, of course.

Baby Driver is in cinemas now.
