"What’s most impressive is our eclectic mix of international and national headliners."

Melbourne's electronic music scene has just scored a new music venue that’s all about the highest calibre of sound and production.

Transforming a basement on the edge of the CBD, electronic music hub Xe54 will open on August 12.

The exciting new endeavour comes from Roar Projects’ Simon Digby, Tony Perna and Nick Vas, who enlisted the booking/promotional team behind Beyond The Valley as well as the prime instigator of Melbourne’s laneway revolution, International Worldwide, for interior design.

“We aim to create something that regardless of the time of year, or which specific week you attend there will be a Saturday nightspot for electronic music lovers with the right attitude to come together and enjoy good music,” said booked and promoter Mike Christidis.

“While it’s easy to maintain a quality consistent offering through our experienced resident DJ’s, what’s most impressive is our eclectic mix of international and national headliners.

“So whether you’re a lover of house, techno, disco or so on… we’re sure it will turn some heads.”

You can expect a “minimal and futuristic” vibe from the space, with Digby saying they recruited International Worldwide as they “think outside the box”, which has resulted in everything from the venue layout to drink vessels taking on a unique vibe alongside raw, streetwise art pieces.

The first artist to take over the 334 City Rd venue will be revealed in the coming weeks.
