Attention punk and metal fans: Slipknot's Corey Taylor reckons bringing Knotfest down under could fill the gaping hole left by heavier festivals like Soundwave and Big Day Out.

Speaking to The Music today in Sydney during a promo day, the frontman said, "It's kind of on the backburner right now but yeah, it's still something that's kicking around, yeah. Especially with the loss of Soundwave, Big Day Out, it feels like there's kind of a vacuum right now."

Taylor explains that with Big Day Out and Soundwave reigning supreme over the years, Knotfest, which first launched in 2012 in the US, didn't want to "step on anyone's toes" by bringing their metal extravaganza down under.

"Because there were so many festivals and everything, we didn't really wanna step on anyone's toes out of respect. But now that there's kind of a void, maybe, we'll see.

"We'd definitely LOVE to bring it down here. You guys are some of the best fans on the planet, so the fact there's no rock and punk and metal festival is fucking criminal. I am working on it," he confirms.

Taylor also elaborated on the grotesque teasers they've been chucking all over socials, leading to some sort of announcement this Saturday morning.

"I can tell you that it has something to do with a recording of Slipknot playing live, how about that?" Taylor teases.

Corey Taylor is heading down to Australia this August with Stone Sour — head to theGuide for full details.
