"This will be the biggest blast the town has had since their daily 8 o’clock mine blast."

Triple J's One Night Stand caused a stir last week thanks to the announcement of names like Tash Sultana, Thundamentals and The Smith Street Band on the bill and now the much-speculated location for the 2017 event has been revealed as Mount Isa in northwest Queensland.

"Everyone at triple j is hyped for the most epic gig The Isa has ever seen," triple j Content Director Ollie Wards said.

"This will be the biggest blast the town has had since their daily 8 o’clock mine blast. The One Night Stand is one of the best things we get to do, taking killer live acts from around the country to regional towns like Mount Isa.

"We're packing the J Van with snacks and our musical mates and can’t wait to make the road trip into Mount Isa in April."

The news has also been welcomed by Mount Isa Mayor, Joyce McCulloch.

"We're so excited to have such a high calibre of live music come to the town, the event is so important for youth in regional areas," McCulloch said.

"The One Night Stand is no doubt the biggest live music event to hit Northwest Queensland and I'm sure we will be seeing plenty of folk from all over the state and the country in The Isa."

Triple J Unearthed have joined in on the One Night Stand fun too, today announcing that any local act from Mount Isa and surrounding areas can go in the running to play at the event, simply by uploading their songs to the website before midnight on Sunday, 2 April.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday, 4 April.
