Cricket officials are reportedly worried that Adele's concerts at the Gabba in Brisbane this weekend could damage the field.

As The Courier Mail reports, the Gabba wicket has been under cover since last Saturday with a metal road built on top of it and it will not be removed until Tuesday, after the UK superstar performs her two gigs.

Officials are concerned it could damage the pitch ahead of the First Test of the Ashes in November and, if that is the case, the entire wicket will have to be returfed.

The last time such an event occurred was reportedly at the 2000 Olympics, when the oval was set up for football matches and the pitch had to be returfed, taking 15 years for the traditionally-bouncy wicket to return to its former glory.

"It is too early to know what will happen," Gabba curator Kevin Mitchell said.

"We will just have to wait until they lift the stuff up next week."
