S Club Member Hospitalised As Fans Fume Over Retro Pop Tour

The status of S Club 3's Australian tour is currently up in the air after one of its members was rushed to hospital this past week and underwent surgery.

It has been reported that Jo O’Meara was forced to pull out of the UK group’s two shows in New Zealand last week, allegedly resulting in group members, Tina Barrett and Bradley McIntosh, having to come out on stage and apologise to fans for not being able to perform.

A statement from S Club's management advised that O'Meara suffered from a "strangulated bowel".

"We can confirm that the operation was a complete success and due to this her recovery time will be slightly shorter than previously anticipated," the statement reads.

"This great news means that Jo hopefully, can still join her band mates Tina Barrett and Bradley McIntosh at some point during the Australian leg of the tour. 

"Jo is recovering well and the band's PA, Michelle Cindy Lazarus, who is staying with her said 'Jo is so happy this terrible ordeal is finally over and that she just can’t wait to get back on stage and do her thing'."

It is currently unclear if the naughties pop act, who are booked to kick off their Australian shows tonight alongside B*Witched, Liberty X and Atomic Kitten, will be joined by O'Meara.

Barrett and McIntosh flew to Australia this weekend without O'Meara as she recovered in hospital.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, O'Meara said that she was hoping to be released from hospital and free to go "home".

"Thank you all so much for your support and well wishes," the singer tweeted.

"I am so greatful to feel well again fingers crossed I can come home today."

The Australian promoter told The Music that they could not disclose if or when O'Meara will rejoin the tour.

Stuff have since reported that a number of New Zealand fans are upset following news that they will not refunded for S Club pulling out of the show.

Meanwhile, Liberty X have been forced to address a number of their own disgruntled followers, who expressed disappointment at the trio’s ten-minute set time.

Responding to a news outlet, group member Michelle Heaton tweeted, "We'd love to do more songs, it's such a… shame we can't!

"There lots of acts & there's a time limit to the show. We are as gutted as the fans."
