Everybody now: Awwwww

More The Bennies More The Bennies

A little heartwarming moment popped up on The Bennies' social media today when they announced the engagement of their guitarist, Julien "Jules" Rozenbergs, to his fellow stringsmith and sweetheart, Lucy Wilson, a guitarist and vocalist in Melburnian rock'n'soul quintet The Sugarcanes.

The eclectic triple j favourites announced the news enthusiastically on their Twitter this afternoon with a picture of the "dynamic powerhouse of good times and ultimate talent", signing off with an ebullient, "Fuck yeah life!!!"

We're don't know how long Rozenbergs and Wilson have been together, or anything elseabout their private business, and we honestly don't want to — we just want to share this moment, this beautiful moment, because come on, it is so unbelievably pure that it makes your heart hurt with happiness just to look at it.

GOD, look at all the purity. Don't they just look like they deserve so much happiness? All of it, even? All the happiness? Aw, man. Hell yeah. Who wants to go pet some puppies? Who else is STOKED TO BE ALIVE suddenly? Let's go fuckin' bungee jumping.

The Bennies, who arguably enjoyed one of the most successful 12-month stretches among independent/alternative Australian bands in 2016, have started this year strong, as  broadly loved track Party Machine recently brought the band one more feather for their cap when it took the #2 placing in the annual 4ZZZ Hot 100 countdown. The achievement came only days after wrapping up their 2016 with festival slots at Southbound and NYE On The Hill.

No strangers to event bills themselves, The Sugarcanes have a bit of activity on the horizon on the back of their busy year, with an impending slot at the Beechworth Music Festival coming up in a couple of weeks, as well as at Boogie Festival in a few months. They also recently stepped out for a well-received outing at Meredith Music Festival, and released their self-titled debut studio album in April last year.
