Female-Fronted Acts Dominate Triple J Unearthed's Most Played List

The 2016 lists are continuing full steam ahead — recently we got stats from Spotify and iTunes — and today triple j Unearthed's 2016 stats grace us.

It's a list that makes us happy, firstly because the 50 Most Played Artists on Unearthed Radio features a whopping 60% female-fronted acts. Hell, yes.

Up-and-comer Alex Lahey sits atop this list at #1, with Julia Jacklin, triple j Unearthed High winner Gretta Ray and Tash Sultana following close behind in the top ten.

Other acts we've loved getting behind this year that all make the list include Good Boy, Mallrat, The Pretty Littles, Alice Ivy, Middle Kids, West Thebarton Brothel Party and Coda Conduct. 

Triple j Unearthed also found that four animals graced the list (Mallrat, Mosquito Coast, Owen Rabbit and Birdz) and three acts took part in the Unearthed High competition this year (Gretta Ray, LASTLINGS, Tia Gostelow).
