Coldplay frontman Chris Martin was so impressed by a group of Aussie songwriters during a chance meeting at a Sydney studio this week that he invited the entire crew along to the band's gig and afterparty.

Currently in Australia in support of their world tour, the UK legends were recording at Studios 301 on Monday, the same studio that almost 70 artists and producers were working in as part of the 50 Songs In 5 Days initiative.

Now in its fifth year, the song-writing event (curated by Specific Music in partnership with APRA AMCOS) brings together up-and-coming artists with celebrated producers and writers to create fifty songs in five days straight out of the renowned Alexandria-based studio.

Speaking exclusively to The Music, Co-founder of 50 Songs In 5 Days and Specific Music, Leonie Conley, revealed that Martin was shocked when he heard of the event after bumping into local singer, Emma May and 50 Songs intern, Joel Mallett at Studios 301.

"Chris expressed to Joel that there was nothing like it in the UK and that he thought it was a fantastic initiative," Conley said.

"Unbeknownst to everyone, he was so impressed with the song-writing initiative we've created that he personally invited the entire 50 Songs crew and Studios 301 staff to Coldplay's show at Allianz Stadium [on Tuesday night]."

In total, 75 people were given some of the best seats in the house for the stadium gig and were then invited to the band's private afterparty overlooking Sydney Harbour.

"The band were there and spent time chatting to everyone. They were so down to earth and an absolute pleasure," Conley continued.

"I managed to have the opportunity to thank both Chris and [guitarist Jonny Buckland] for giving our writers an experience they will never forget. Even our hard working interns were invited along to enjoy the night — nobody was left out.

"There was no reason for the band to make such a generous offer to so many people that they have never met, and we were all just blown away by how down to earth and cool they were to us all.

"I hope they realise that they set the best example of how to treat other human beings when you are wildly successful artists."

Coldplay wrapped up the Australian leg of their tour last night in Sydney, before they head to Asia later this month.
