Tis the season.

So, in case you haven't been paying attention to the incessant TV commercials, jingles in the local supermarket and blinding decorations basically anywhere you go, Christmas is just around the corner which means that holiday albums are set to storm to the top of the ARIA Albums chart.

According to midweek figures, the battle for #1 looks to be between John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John's new Xmas LP, Friends For Christmas, and Canadian crooner Michael Buble's 2011 effort, Christmas.

Despite it now being five years old, Buble's holiday record has proved to be a favourite in Australia each December since its release, that point being proved today with the announcement that the album has officially reached one million sales in the country.

Christmas has also been #1 on the Aussie iTunes album chart every Christmas Day.

While Farnsey/ONJ and Buble are the hot contenders for top spot, UK icons The Rolling Stones are also still in the mix to retain #1 from last week with their latest, Blue & Lonesome.

Other chances to shake-up the pointy end of the chart include US R&B artist J Cole's new LP, 4 Your Eyez Only, and Keith Urban's May-released Ripcord which are both primed to finish in the top five.

Rounding out debuting albums this week include latest The X Factor winner Isaiah Firebrace's Isaiah and Neil Young's Peace Trail.

On the Singles chart, pop heavyweights Taylor Swift and Zayn's new track, I Don't Wanna Live Forever is set to soar into the list to debut in the top three and is a strong chance to dethrone Clean Bandit's Rockabye featuring Sean Paul and Anne-Marie

Expect to also see Steve Aoki and Louis Tomlinson's Just Hold On chart in the top 30.
