More Conor Oberst More Conor Oberst

Indie royalty Conor Oberst, of Bright Eyes and Desaparecidos fame, has announced an exclusive, intimate show at the Sydney Opera House.

The performance will feature his seventh (and latest) record Ruminations solo, with a piano, guitar and harmonica to accompany him.

Penned within 48 hours during a dark, dreary winter in Omaha, Nebraska after a recent hospitalisation, Oberst was left with his thoughts and his instruments — and out poured Ruminations.

Sydney Opera House's Head Of Contemporary Music, Ben Marshall, says, "After 23 years of public performance, Conor Oberst's fierce, raw, risk-taking intensity finally comes to the Opera House.

"The intelligence and honesty he brings to bear in his emotional, personal, sometimes desperate songs have gained him a legion of dedicated admirers and secured him a place as one of the significant songwriters of his generation.

"It's a genuine privilege to welcome this intimate, overdue, Australian-exclusive evening with Conor Oberst to the Sydney Opera House."

The one-off show will be Oberst's first time at the iconic venue and will be his only Australian show during his February visit.
