ARIAs & J Awards Give Flume, Sultana, Dumbo & More Charts Boost

As predicted in the midweek figuresMetallica's tenth LP, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct took out #1 on the ARIA Albums chart this week, but the big story for our local acts is the boost they've received in the charts thanks to the recent ARIA and J Awards

The most notable wins this week come from DD Dumbo's Utopia Defeated (triple j’s Australian Album of the Year winner), which has soared an incredible 30 spots up the Albums chart to place at #41 while, Unearthed Artist of the Year Tash Sultana's Notion has also jumped up significantly, coming from #63 last week to land at #36.

Due to his success at the 30th ARIA Awards this past week, Flume's Album Of The Year winner Skin has jumped back into the top 20 to place at #19, while 2016 Hall of Fame inductees Crowded House's compilation, The Very Best Of Crowded House has charted at #14.

Elsewhere, ARIAs international guest James Arthur's Back From The Edge has climbed from #36 to #16 and Best Female Artist Sia's This Is Acting has been bumped up two places to chart at #31.

A handful of ARIA nominees have also re-entered the chart this week too, as Rufus' Album Of The Year-nominated Bloom has come in at #44, Troye Sivan's Blue Neighbourhood has reemerged at #53, The AvalanchesWildflower at #59 and Violent Soho's WACO at #88, which picked up the win for Best Rock Album. 

Breakthrough Artist winner Montaigne has just snuck back in the chart with Glorious Heights to place at #95.

 

Meanwhile, Aussie hip hop artist Kerser pulled off a top five finish with Tradition coming in at #4, while UK group Little Mix's Glory Days and US heavyweight Bruno Mars24k Magic have debuted at #2 and #3 respectively. 

Other albums debuting on the Albums chart this week include Sixx:A.M.'s Prayers For The Blessed (#23), Miranda Lambert's The Weight Of These Wings (#26), DNCE's self-titled (#32), Disturbed — Live At Red Rocks (#43), Dodie's Intertwined EP (#54) and Justice's Woman (#66).

Over on the ARIA Singles chart, Arthur has taken out #1 for the seventh straight week with Say You Won't Let Go, though two artists are hot on his heels. 

Clean Bandit's Rockabye featuring Sean Paul and Anne-Marie has skyrocketed up 12 places from last week to chart at #2, while Rae Sremmurd's #1 single in the US, Black Beatles, has jumped up three spots to place at #3.

2016 ARIAs hosts The Veronicas have enjoyed bumps with two of their tracks; On Your Side has climbed from #39 to #19, while the song which the duo performed live to open the ARIAs, In My Blood, has jumped from #68 to #54.

Fellow ARIAs international guest Robbie Williams' new song, Love My Life, has comfortably landed in the top 50 to debut at #36, while Flume again enjoyed some healthy boosts with Say It (up from #55 to #47) and winner of Best Pop Release, Never Be Like You featuring Kai (up from #70 to #53).

Meanwhile in the global market, emerging Sydney artist Starley has continued to climb the UK charts with her single Call On Me, which has increased its spot from #89 last week to place at #84.
