Babylon Festival Is Coming & It's A Freaking Electronic Music Mecca

Techno, psy trance, deep house and experimental beats converge in the middle of the Australian wilderness. Siiiiick

We've known for a while that dance festival promoter Richie McNeill has been cooking up some new delights, and now the veil's been totally pulled back on next year's treat, Babylon, an electronic-music mecca in the middle of the Australian wilderness.

Hell yeah.

The event has just revealed its full, sizeable line-up, specialising in the sweet sounds of techno, psy trance, deep house and experimental beats and brought together under the careful curation of McNeill's Hardware group (and, in NSW, local promoters Swerve, Finely Tuned and This).

Next year's inaugural affair is stacked with a legitimately world-class array of artists that runs the gamut from AtmosClaude VonStroke and Infected Mushroom to Planetary Assault Systems aka Luke SlaterLee BurridgeOzzy and plenty beyond.

Babylon will stage two events, one each in Vic and NSW, in March next year, with the former being held from 10-13 March amid the northern Grampians in the Kara Kara National Park, and the latter 10-12 March in the World Heritage-listed Capertree Valley.

"It's really exciting for us to be able to produce this world-class event, with Babylon we aim to create something different, but to also set a benchmark for organisation as there has been some disappointed punters with festivals of this kind in the recent past," McNeill said in a statement. "It's important for us that the locations are magical, and we think with these two sites we have nailed it. It will be an eclectic event with something for everyone. A new dawn."

Babylon will also boast a diversity of delicacies at its Food Village, a range of festival fashions, handmade accessories and jewellery, plus locally designed products, at the marketplace & lifestyle hub, and a series of workshops and mindfulness activities to keep that grey matter nice and nourished along with your stomach and sense of aesthetics.

Both events will provide shuttle buses to and from each state's closest regional station, with options available to charter coaches as well. And, if you're driving, the organisers encourage you to carpool.

Tickets are on sale now via Eventbrite, and general passes include general camping access, though there are obviously some more lush packages — such as the Hanging Gardens glamping option — for those with a little extra cash to burn.
