More Green Day More Green Day

Green Day's long-anticipated American Idiot rock musical is heading down under and the lucky folks in Brisbane have scored the first opportunity to witness the magic, with the band confirming the production's Australian premiere will take place at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC).

Having won two Tony Awards and a Grammy in 2010 for Best Musical Show Album, the show features an all-Aussie cast set to the tunes of the Grammy-winning 2004 album of the same name.

Australian director Craig Ilott says, "It’s so rare to come across a piece as rich, stimulating and challenging as this. Ultimately it’s a rallying cry from the heart by one of the world’s best bands. The album American Idiot redefined Green Day as a band. American Idiot the musical challenged what was expected of the form. And now a new production from some of Australia’s finest young theatre makers and performers promises to breathe new life into it."

The production will hit QPAC from 23 February 2017, with the band touching down in late April for a huge national tour.
