2016 Art Music Awards Reveal Big Winners

Congrats to all the recipients

Australia's night of nights for musicians based in the experimental, jazz and classical genres, the 2016 Art Music Awards were held last night in Melbourne to commend a diverse list of musos on their achievements in the last year.

Speak Percussion took out the Award For Excellence In Experimental Music, while Paul Grabowsky and Andrew Schultz (both with multiple nominations) took home Jazz Work Of The Year (Nyilipidgi) and Vocal/Choral Work Of The Year (Le Moliere Imaginaire) respectively. 

The prestigious Award For Distinguished Services To Australian Music was awarded to 80-year-old Helen Gifford OAM for her long career as a composer. Kate Neal took home both the Instrumental Work Of The Year and Performance Of The Year awards for Semaphore, featuring the Semaphore band and dancers.

Waleed Aly, Katie Noonan and many more were in attendance, either to present an award or perform on the night.
