Man was shot in the chest.

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was shot in the chest at a UK dance festival over the weekend.

According to BBC, police say the 27-year-old victim was in a VIP tent at the Tea Party Festival at the Royal Windsor Racecourse on Saturday when he noticed a "disturbance" on the dance floor.

The victim reportedly heard a "cap gun" sound go off and soon realised he had been hit in the chest.

Authorities are asking anyone with photos or video footage from inside the tent to make contact.

"[The shooting] occurred when the VIP tent would have been busy, so if you were there and took a photo you may have captured the incident," Detective Constable Tom Parker said.

The victim remains in a stable condition in hospital.

This year's Tea Party Festival featured names such as DJ EZ, Hannah Wants and Jaguar Skills.
