Capital-city events are happening around the country this weekend

More Kate Bush More Kate Bush

This weekend, there will be large groups of people all around the country engaging in a kind of shared insanity that will leave onlookers perplexed, stunned and a little annoyed.

We're not talking about the global fever for Pokemon GO — although, yes, that'll be everywhere too — but rather some upcoming celebrations of Kate Bush's seminal 1978 single Wuthering Heights and its iconic video as fans around the world join forces to commemorate the nearly 40-year-old hit.

Dubbed the Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever, the globally co-ordinated effort will see groups of people deck themselves out in their best, most Bush-esque flowy red dress this Saturday, 16 July, to take part in a flash mob (remember 2012?) to recreate the singer's unforgettable dance moves as seen in the well-known but kind of insane film clip, in which Bush apparently has a seizure in a field and nobody does anything to help for four-and-a-half minutes.

If you want to be a part of the (other group of) mass shenanigans hitting the streets this weekend, there are capital-city events happening in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Hobart, with the regional NSW locale of the Blue Mountains also getting in on the action (probably with the best scenery, to be honest).

Internationally, your Team Bush brethren will be letting loose in the US, Germany, Sweden, the UK, Israel, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, New Zealand and Canada.
