Big news for the Perth station.

Following a lengthy process, beloved Perth community radio station RTRFM has announced that long-time member and presenter Will Backler will take on the highly-sought after role of Music Coordinator.

First appearing on the station as a guest in 2012, Backler currently hosts the 'Full Frequency' show airing every Thursday and will take on the new position this week.

"I am extremely excited to be taking on the role of Music Coordinator at RTRFM and look forward to contributing to the stations rich, diverse sound and musical direction, as well putting my obsessive listening and musical organization skills to use," Backler said.

"I am thrilled to be taking my involvement with the station to a whole new level, after presenting there for the last three years, and to be working in the music industry that has constantly inspired me."

Meanwhile, RTRFM General Manager Stu MacLeod welcomed Backler's appointment.

"I was blown away with both the volume of applications and the quality. It was hard to whittle them down to 15 interview candidates, let alone pick one for the role," MacLeod said.

"In the end, we were really impressed with Will’s broad knowledge of music, spanning a wide, diverse range of styles and genre. Couple that with his technical knowledge and familiarity with the station and everything it stands for and add his infectious enthusiasm for just about anything life throws at him and we’re really excited to have him joining the team."

Backler takes over from outgoing Music Director Adam Christou who is heading to Melbourne's Triple R as their new Interviews Coordinator.

In addition to Backler's new position, breakfast presenter and producer Caitlin Nienaber has been named RTRFM's new Music Interviews Coordinator, while Peter Barr will also take on the role of Program Manager.
