A US band have cancelled a performance just minutes before they were set to take to the stage after it was revealed threats against the venue were made by two unknown men.

According to TMZ, country outfit The Band Perry were preparing for a gig at The Freeman Stage in Delaware on Sunday before being notified of the threats.

Two men reportedly approached an employee at the Americana Bayside Welcome Center front desk earlier that day and made threats of violence.

"While we are sad we don't get to see you tonight, we love you and consider your wellbeing and security our top priority," the band said in a statement.

The concert has been rescheduled to next month.

The news comes just days after over two dozen people were hospitalised and more were arrested at fellow country act Kenny Chesney's concert in Pittsburgh.

According to NY Daily News, arrest charges included trespassing, ticket robbery, simple assault and public intoxication.
