Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett has made good on speculation that he has been busy working on a comeback album, today announcing the details for his debut solo album, A Version Of Now.

Recorded at Sydney's Rancom Street studios in January with acclaimed producer Burke Reid, who has worked with the likes of Courtney Barnett, Sarah Blasko among others, the nine-track album's core band line-up includes fellow Midnight Oil member and guitarist Martin Rotsey, Pete Luscombe on drums and Jet's Mark Wilson on bass.

"As I was finishing my memoir, melodies and lines kept dropping into my head and, big surprise, I ended up writing a few songs," Garrett said.

"Once these tunes were out in the sunlight I decided I might as well jump into a studio and record what I had along with a few other bits and pieces I’d always liked.

"The songs are reflections of turbulent decades on the rack, and the people and things that meant the most to me."

A Version Of Now will be released on Friday, 15 July via Sony Music Entertainment Australia. Pre-orders are available from 30 May.
