Brisbane's young female musicians-in-training are set for a rocking school holiday season, with the second ever Girls Rock! event to be held at The Foundry from 26 to 30 September.

The holiday camp for self-identified girls, trans* and gender non-conforming youth aged 10 to 17 made its Australian debut in Canberra this January, with the help of mentors such as Courtney Barnett and Jen Cloher.

The Brisbane program, Girls Rock! Brisbane (GR!BNE), helps girls use music to build confidence, empower each other, fight discrimination, and prompt personal and social change. The not-for-profit organisation provides a variety of different musicians as mentors and role models, with a curriculum covering a broad introduction to music.

In five days, participants will form their own band, learn an instrument, watch live performances, participate in creative workshops and write an original song to be performed at the end-of-week showcase on 1 October.
