"It is an exciting win for a performer who is truly outstanding in both a national and international context."

With nominees for the annual Barry Awards announced just five days ago, Melbourne International Comedy Festival have unveiled the news that Zoe Coombs Marr has taken home the esteemed award, winning out over David O'Doherty, Tom Ballard and Anne Edmonds.

Coombs Marr's Trigger Warning show has travelled to the UK, New York and around Australia, with the comedian taking out the Golden Gibbo Award this year too — the second ever comedian to win both the Barry and the Golden Gibbo Award.

MICF"s Susan Provan said of Coombs Marr's win, "Zoe Coombs Marr's Trigger Warning was scored highly by all judges right across the panel with a consistency that is rare in the subjective world of comedy. I think it is an exciting win for a performer who is truly outstanding in both a national and international context."

Other winners from the MICF Awards show include Tom Ballard taking home the inaugural Pinder Prize, Tom Walker's Beep Boop with Best Newcomer Award, Chris Wainhouse's The Antichris with The Piece Of Wood, a tie between Zanzoop's Feeble Minds and True Australian Patriots Live for Directors' Choice Award, Carl Barron's Drinking With A Fork for People's Choice Award and Jeremy Macpherson with the Funny Tonne Award (most reviewed shows at the 2016 festival at 164 shows).
