Amid Public Pressure, Sony To Reportedly Drop Dr Luke

In perhaps the end to a long and complicated scandal, Sony has reportedly agreed to end their relationship with high-demand producer Dr Luke, following countless celebrities and fans backing Kesha's bid for freedom from the producer.

As The Wrap reports, "knowledgeable sources" have said that the PR nightmare Kesha's allegations and the ensuing court case has caused has not been "worth the hassle".

"There is no contest. Kesha has no case in regards to her contract but they can’t afford the Adeles of the world out in the streets calling the label unsupportive," a Sony insider said. 

Joining Adele, who made a public statement of support for Kesha on stage at the BRIT Awards, last week pop star Kelly Clarkson spoke out on Australian radio to say that she had been "blackmailed" into working with Dr Luke, and that he was "poor of character".

"The fact that this hasn’t already been taken care of with Luke is confusing, especially for people in the building," the Sony insider told The Wrap.

It is expected a negotiated exit would occur to terminate the contract, which is reportedly due to expire in early 2017. It had previously been ruled that Kesha would not be able to terminate the contract as it was "heavily negotiated and typical for the industry," according to the judge presiding over the case.

Thus far, Dr Luke has denied Kesha's claims outright of his sexual and emotional abuse, stating, "It’s sad that she would turn a contract negotiation into something so horrendous and untrue.

"I didn’t rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her. Kesha and I were friends for many years and she was like my little sister."
