Daddy Cool Farewell Ross Hannaford: 'He Was Truly One Of A Kind'

"We’ve lost one of the world’s most unique guitarists."

Following the news of the passing of venerated guitarist Ross Hannaford of cancer yesterday, Daddy Cool's surviving members have offered their heartfelt statements following the loss of their band mate.

Long-time collaborator Ross Wilson sad, "We were so lucky to find each other in the wilds of '60s suburban Melbourne.

"He was like my little brother, we grew up together in life and in music. He was truly one of a kind."

Wilson and Hannaford had worked together since before the inception of Daddy Cool — since 1964 in the bands The Pink Finks, The Party Machine and Songs Of The Vegetal Mother.

Wayne Duncan wrote, "We’re gutted … We’ve lost a great friend today. He took me on many a journey," while Gary Young offered, "We’ve lost one of the world’s most unique guitarists."

Hannaford's cancer came to light last July, though Hannaford kept creating and recording until last week. He was 65.
