Hey Geronimo's New Clip Is An All-Star Brisbane Ode To A Classic TISM Video

The local outfit have pulled off a stunning clip, and have news about their debut album!

More Hey Geronimo More Hey Geronimo

Stalwart Brisbane outfit Hey Geronimo have paid homage to cult Aussie icons TISM with their video for new single Boredom, recreating the mask-wearing madmen's 1998 Thunderbirds Are Coming Out clip with a little help from 25 Queensland-bred bands.

So stunning is the clip that it almost overshadows their second bit of news for the week — namely, that their debut album, Crashing Into The Sun, will be released this May via Chugg Music — but, then again, it's a fittingly triumphant way to provide a first taste from the forthcoming full-length as well as pay tribute to not only TISM but the tight-knit Qld music community.

From local icons such as Jeremy NealeTape/OffBorn Joy Dead and Tin Can Radio to familial world-beaters Sheppard and even a cameo spot from TISM themselves, the clip is a single-shot (though, we're told, not quite single-take) conveyor belt of quality musical talent, and it's a true delight to see so many disparate outfits — from the pop-punkers of Being Jane Lane and electro indie-popper Zefereli to the one-man band that is Machine Age and the eight featured members of the Geebung Community Christian Choir — all rocking out in their own distinct manner to Hey Geronimo's tune.

The Boredom clip was directed by Hey Geronimo frontman Pete Kilroy, with venerated local videographer Jaymis Loveday manning the director-of-photography role. It was produced by Lauren Panrucker, of L&L Productions.

The Boredom clip also comes with the news that Sydneysider and lauded indie-pop lord Pluto Jonze has joined the Hey Geronimo ranks, adding a fourth songwriter and voice to their heady mix of indie-pop-rock goodness, of which you'll be able to hear 12 brand new slices when Crashing Into The Sun steps out into the world on Friday 20 May.
