Britt and husband take on new role.

Just two months after it was announced to be up for sale, Australian music magazine Rhythms has officially been sold to Australian country singer Catherine Beverley (née Catherine Britt) and her husband James Beverley

Previous owners of the blues and roots publication, Marty and Verity Jones, said they are thrilled to be handing over the magazine after they took the role on in 2005.

"[Britt and Beverley] thoroughly understand where Rhythms has come from and what it is about and have exciting plans to take the magazine into the future," Marty Jones said.

"I urge all supporters of Rhythms to get behind Catherine and James and help the magazine continue as one of the finest music publications in the world."

Britt has been involved in the music business for over 20 years and has released six studio albums in that time, as well as scoring six ARIA nominations and four Golden Guitar awards.

"Rhythms has been such a part of the blues and roots scene in Australia for over 20 years and we are proud to be a part of the next stage in its history," Britt said.

"We’re excited at the opportunity to honour that history and to now develop the next stage of the Rhythms story. The subscriber base is so loyal, and our key focus will be to continue to grow that base."

The first Rhythms issue under Britt and Beverley will be released this March/April with a writing staff that includes founding editor Brian Wise, Marty Jones and senior writer, Samuel Fell.
