Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard Made A Music Video For Toto's 'Africa' & It Is Essential Viewing

There's no disputing the magic of Africa, the seminal track from US soft-rock legends Toto.

The song, released in 1982 and taken from the band's LP of that year, Toto IV, possesses a mystique and infectiousness that is impossible to deny, even if you can't name a single other Toto song. Entire moshpits have fallen prey to its swaying charms when the song has been blasted over PA systems in-between headline acts, and if you can show us a single person who says they don't completely give themselves over to the beat by the time the first chorus drops, then we'll show you some surprised music journalists and a liar.

But if you thought that Africa couldn't get any more magical, then you were wrong. Seriously wrong. Stars and apparent best couple ever^TM  Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have proven that incontrovertibly with their own music video for the song, which they created while on holiday in Africa recently on the last trip they took before having children. In the couple's own words, their "sole objective was to rage hard and honour Toto properly". 

It's pretty safe to say that they outdid themselves as far as that goal is concerned, putting together a wondrously camp home video-style clip for the song replete with air drumming, gimpy dancing and, of course, the resplendent scenery of Africa. 

So committed to the clip were the couple that they actually ended up being fined for dancing with wildebeest — although, it was ultimately a small sum and the end result is absolutely more than worth it.

"We wanted to see the wildebeest migrate so we had driven five hours in the car, we finally got to them on the Serengeti, we got out of the car [and] we started doing a dance for this music video," Shepard said. "We weren't paying attention and then the Serengeti police showed up and they fined us $50 for dancing at the Serengeti."
