Hands-on Training for SAE Creative Media Institute Students

Century Venues will offer live sound diploma students access to their gigs for hands-on training.

The Metro Theatre and Century Venues will play host to audio students from the SAE Creative Media Institiute, starting this month.

The partnership gives students in the seven-month Diploma Of Sound Production (Live Sound) the opportunity to undertake half their studies at the Metro, as well as to intern at four major gigs, and comes in the wake of similar deals with The Brightside in Brisbane and The Prince in Melbourne.

The real-world learning experience has been described by SAE Sydney Campus Manager Radovan Klusacek as "about getting students learning and working in a live music environment from day one, and providing them with real career pathways".

"[Our students will] be on hand at gigs from bump in to pack down, observing engineers at work and getting inovlved wherever possible."

Century is expecting to gain access to future live music producers, who are, as Century Venues General Manager Sam Nardo says, "passionate, knowledgeable and with the skills needed to hit the ground running".

There will also be the option for students to intern at Enmore Theatre and Factory Theatre.

Enrolments for the next intake commence 21 September. For more information, or to enrol, head to the SAE Australia website
