Biennial festival runs 18 to 27 September in Melbourne.

Channels: the Australian Video Art Festival returns to Melbourne next month, featuring 60 artists in 21 events.

The ten-day festival will explore contemporary video practice from all over the world, with events in Melbourne and online.

The program of exhibitions, screenings, talks, performances and workshops will tap into particularly modern preoccupations, including the pervasiveness of mobile technology, the rise of YouTube, and the reality of data collection.

Highlights of the festival program include the Australian premiere of Sam Smith's live-video performance/audiovisual collage, Notes; and the Festival's closing night party Two Party State, which draws upon the works of video, sound and performance artists.
