The Proclaimers Announce 2016 Australian Tour

4 December 2015 | 9:55 am | Staff Writer

Coming next April.

They haven't toured our shores in a few years, but that's all about to change with today's announcement that veteran Scottish duo The Proclaimers are heading back to Australia in 2016 for a national tour.

Though they're well known around the world, Australia is a very special place for the band as their classic 1988 album Sunshine On Leith debuted at #2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and the hit single from the record I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) stayed at #1 on the Singles Chart for four straight weeks.

The national tour kicks off at Perth's Concert Hall on 13 April, followed by stops at Brisbane's QPAC Concert Hall (15 April), Sydney's Opera House (16 April), The Palais Theatre in Melbourne (17 April), Hobart's Wrest Point Tasmania (19 April) and Canberra's Theatre Centre (20 April).

Melbourne will be a very special performance as The Proclaimers will be supported by iconic home town act Pseudo Echo.

The tour comes on the back of the band's tenth studio album Let's Hear It For The Dogs released this past April.
