"Let’s get as many gigs booked in as possible and get as many people through the doors as we can.

Revered Adelaide live music venue Fowler’s Live have announced they will be shutting their doors in May of 2017.

The news comes after reports last year that 2015 would be the venue’s final year of operation, but at last week’s SA Music Awards, Robert Dunstan – who won the Fowler’s Live Achievement Award – revealed the new plans.

The timeline was then confirmed on their Facebook page.

“Fowler’s Live will be staying open until May 2017. For the next 18 months let’s get as many gigs booked in as possible and get as many people through the doors as we can,” a statement read.

The 500-capacity venue is situated in Adelaide’s West End precinct, a location that the State Government was reportedly looking to take over to house the State Theatre Company when Fowler’s Live expired at the end of 2015.

Fowler’s Live hosts an eclectic mix of local, national and international bands on a weekly basis.
