Simon Cowell's DJ-Themed Talent Show Has Already Been Axed

It's probably no surprise.

It was originally pitched as 'X Factor for DJ's' and while it was due to air on TV screens in early 2016, Simon Cowell's new talent show, Ultimate DJ, has already been axed by Yahoo.

As Variety reports, the show was to feature fresh DJ talent competing against each other for a recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment, however Yahoo have made the decision to not go ahead with the project,

The news comes just months after the controversial TV talent judge took to the stage at Yahoo's NewFront event in New York to announce the competition series.

In an interview with NME, veteran DJ Fatboy Slim revealed that Cowell had approached him and a number of other high profile names in the dance industry to be involved in the show, to which he replied, "Fuck off, no – that's a terrible idea!"

"That's the good thing about dance music; it grows organically through drunk people late at night coming up with stupid ideas," Slim said.

"It's not something that can be scripted or transported into a TV studio."

Earlier this year, we shared our top five challenges we'd like to see play out on the show. Sadly, we may never get to now. Probably.
