Grammy Award-winning US artist John Mellencamp has announced he'll be heading back to Australia in 2016 for a seven-date national tour, where he will also be joined by very special guests Jewel and Carlene Carter.

The shows will kick off next February in Perth, followed by performances in Melbourne, Sydney, Hunter Valley, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Adelaide.

General public tickets go on sale from 10am on Friday 23 October, though Visa cardholders will have access to pre-sale tickets for the Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Hunter Valley shows when they become available from 10am on Tuesday 20 October through to the same time the next day — click here for more details.

Mellencamp is no stranger to Australian audiences, having burst onto the scene in 1979 with his hit I Need A Lover.
