"The potential benefits in collaborating and sharing ideas with such esteemed company is very exciting."

Adelaide’s festival scene is one of the world’s most vibrant, and it has been recognised on an international level, scoring an invite to join the inaugural International Festival City Network.

Famed for an array of diverse music, arts and food festivals, Adelaide’s festival roster is ever-expanding, with WOMAdelaide, Fringe, Adelaide Cabaret Festival and more always delivering world-class content and often hosting world premieres.

Adelaide will be the only city representing Australia, alongside heavyweights Montreal, Berlin and Edinburgh at the first formalised international network of Festival Cities.

Festivals Adelaide Executive Officer Christie Anthoney said the benefits for the state’s scene could be endless.

“It’s that, as festival cities, we also all share similar challenges that can be explored through a common framework and this is a major part of what this network will be,” Anthoney said.

“With a group featuring representatives of some of the world’s greatest festival cities, the potential benefits in collaborating and sharing ideas with such esteemed company is very exciting for Adelaide.”
