Storytellers Of Tragedy, Sex, Love, Rape And Beauty

Lips is an original Australian work that places domestic violence, expectations of submission and strong female actresses center stage.

Written and directed by Riannon Berkeley, Lips has united two generations of women from the Berkeley family. Julie-Anna Evans, Samantha Grace and Sara Caputo showcase the darkness and injustice of a violated domesticity, confronting an audience by forcing them to experience the state of tension, discomfort and threat that the characters onstage have had to endure.

Lips challenges the outdated language and expectations that suggests female bodies should be beautiful, silent, objects. This work is a call to action for men and women who understand that we are all capable of violence; that we all make poor choices, when our lips should speak together in love and understanding.

This event is officially supported by the White Ribbon campaign as an echo never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women.
