Adelaide Festival Of Arts Announce Massive Line-Up

Artistic Director David Sefton has unveiled his final line-up for Adelaide Festival Of Arts this February.

Post-rockers Godspeed You! Black Emperor lead the music line-up, performing both a headline shot, and as live accompaniment to contemporary dance work monumental by Canadian dance company The Holy Body Tattoo.

The music line-up also includes the likes of Sunn O))), Magma and Sufjan Stevens, as well as returning live music programs Tectonics Adelaide, featuring The Necks, Jim O’Rourke, and more; and Unsound, featuring Nine Inch Nails’ Alessandro Cortini, Mogwai’s Barry Burns, and more.  

The festival will open with a pyrotechnic spectacular Á Fleur De Peau at Adelaide Oval, created by Groupe F, while dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures commandeer Norwood Concert Hall in Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo and Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium.

Theatre works include the 11-hour The James Plays trilogy by Rona Munro; 1927’s Golem, a combination of handmade animation and live performance, which will then venture to Sydney Theatre Company; and STCSA’s The Events, a work which will then tour to Belvoir in Sydney, andMalthouse Theatre in Melbourne, plus much more.   

Dance works include Nelken (Carnations) by late choreographer Pina Bausch, Atlanta Eke’s Body Of Work, and Australian Dance Theatre’s Habitus. On the visual art front, Adelaide Festival boasts Boo!, a series of ghost stories from Indigenous artists, and Heart Beat, a 4D video installation by Lisa Roet.

The festival also encompasses Adelaide Writers’ Week, featuring Tim Flannery, Lisa Genova, Simon Winchester and more; the 2016 AdelaideBiennial: Magic Object; and WOMADelaide, with Angelique Kidjo, Marlon Williams, Violent Femmes and more.  

Adelaide Festival runs 26 February – 15 March.
