WAM Festival Unveils Massive First Artist Announcement

WAM Festival has revealed 81 acts playing this year’s event, boasting some of the best names in the WA music scene as well as a slew of promising up-and-comers.

Already dishing out some nice talent for the festival’s conference, buzz bands Tired Lion and Methyl Ethyl lead the live announcement, signing on for the Saturday Spectacular Block Party, which will return for a second year on Saturday 7 November.

Other bands playing the Block Party (going down at the Wilson car park on Roe St) include Command Q, Hamjam, Lower Spectrum, GRRL PAL, The Merindas, Fait, Lilt, Syllabollix, Our Man In Berlin, Rag N Bone, Randa & The Soul Kingdom and Bryte MC.

As well as the Block Party, The Bird, The Boston, Ezra Pound, Flyrite, Jimmy’s Den, The Moon, Mustang Bar and Universal Bar will also host a wealth of acts all day for free, the full program of which will be announced in the lead up to the day.

A series of showcases will be introduced on Friday 6 November, and will feature acts across State Theatre Centre, Jack Rabbit Slim’s, The Boston, Indi Bar, Amplifier Bar, Babushka, Defectors, The Ellington, Soggybones, Paddington Ale House and HQ.

Artists confirmed for the Friday night showcases are:

Ruby Boots, Gunns, The High Learys, Rachael Dease, Ben Witt, Sable, Catlips, Floria, Time Pilot, Diger Rokwell, Empty, The Boost Hero Man, Cash KRZMA, DJ Silence, Riley Pearce, Stillwater Giants, Wanderlust, The Durongs, Nicky Sandover, Silent Knight, Orpheus Omega, Ragdoll, Wrath Of Fenrir, Aslan, Jamyang, Phocal, Colosoul DJs, Allira Wilson, Trisk & The Luke Minness Quartet, Foxes, Puck, Leeches, Blackwitch, Morgan Bain, Datura4, Andrew Winton, Matty T. Wall, Sydnee Carter, Spire, Figurehead, Shannon, Isla, Ella E.

The WA Music Awards will take over Jack Rabbit Slim’s on Thursday 5 November, with performances from Jacob Diamond, Joni In The Moon, Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse and Tomás Ford, and will be an industry only event.

Another exiting addition is the Sunday Best event at Fremantle Arts Centre and Newport Hotel, where you can catch The Love Junkies, Kucka, Felicity Groom, Odette Mercy & Her Soul Atomics, The Weapon Is Sound, Craig Hollywood, Holly Doll, The Ocean Party, Pat Chow, Dream Rimmy, Erasers, Moana, Salary (ex-Celery), Filthy Apes and The Limbs from 2pm until 10pm, both being free events.
