Courtney Barnett Dominates Independent Music Award Nominations

The Australian Independent Record Labels Association has today announced all of the nominees for the 2015 Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards which features a number of the country's biggest acts, including Sydney singer Courtney Barnett who has picked up a slew of nominations. 

Barnett, who last year won out the event's biggest award in the Best Independent Artist category, was again nominated this year for the gong, as well as in the Best Independent Album category for her March-released debut album, Sometimes I Sit & Think & Sometimes I Just Sit.

The popular songwriter also impressively picked up two nominations for Best Independent Single Or EP for her tracks, Pedestrian At Best and Depreston.

Meanwhile, recently disbanded Melbourne act #1 Dads also received nominations for Best Independent Artist, Best Independent Single or EP and the hugely popular Breakthrough Independent Artist Of The Year category alongside hip hop artist Briggs, Client Liaison, Japanese Wallpaper and Totally Mild.

Joining Barnett and #1 Dads with nominations for Best Independent Artist this year include popular Aussie artists, Chet Faker and Vance Joy, as well as electro duo Hermitude, whose recent album, Dark Night Sweet Light, also received a nomination for Best Independent Album.

This year's awards will be presented at the Meat Market in North Melbourne on Thursday 22 October and performers on the night are expected to be announced shortly.
