The Aussie folk-rock vets are comfortably the week's highest new entrants
Venerated Aussie folk-rock veterans The Waifs have proven they've still got a considerable amount of fuel left in the tank after emerging as the week's highest debut on the Carlton Dry Independent Music Charts, with their new album Beautiful You claiming the #1 spot on the Albums ladder.
The result is unquestionably an impressive one, and the renewed burst of interest around the band has also seen their 2003 full-length Up All Night return to the charts at #17.
Beautiful You's entry is comfortably the strongest performance of the week, stepping out a couple of spots ahead of Andrew Hagger's VIVID, which makes its debut at #4, and The Basics' The Age Of Entitlement, which steps out just outside the top five at #6. West Australian songstress KUCKA also puts in an admirable effort with her new full-length Unconditional, which creeps in about the halfway mark at #11, as does Jess Ribeiro, reaching #14 on entry with Kill It Yourself.
Incidentally, every debut on the Albums chart comes in at a higher spot than their Singles counterparts — the highest new song out this week belongs to KUCKA, who hits #17 with Honey, the chanteuse backing up a couple spots later at #19 with new cut Flux 98. Big Scary round out the complement of artists earning new entries this week, with Organism landing at #20.

The top ten remains comprised of the same acts as last week, albeit with some shuffling — Meg Mac retains her position atop the pile with Never Be, while her previous cut Roll Up Your Sleeves also stays unmoved at #7; at the same time, Hermitude's The Buzz (featuring Mataya and Young Tapz) leaps up to #2 from #5, giving Sia a clear run of four tracks in a row — Elastic Heart is up to #3, Big Girls Cry down to #4, Fire Meet Gasoline down to #5, and Chandelier steady at #6.
