Hamish & Andy Save 2DayFM While Sandilands Takes Another Tumble

The fifth radio ratings.

The fifth radio ratings have today been released with some surprising new statistics, which has also seen the full-time return of hugely successful comedy duo Hamish & Andy who made their way back on to radio last month.

While the Melbourne boys have breathed new life into the struggling 2DayFM network after being on the air for just over five weeks, rival network KIISFM are experiencing their own slump, with heavyweight duo Kyle & Jackie O taking another unlikely hit in the latest survey.

sydney

The anticipated return of Hamish & Andy to Southern Cross Austereo has proved a success throughout the country as the duo jumped up by a rating of 2.7 from the previous Sydney survey to score a 6.5 share in the drive slot. Meanwhile, after a surprising drop in the last survey, Kyle & Jackie O took yet another fall in the breakfast slot, falling by a massive 0.8 from the last outing to hold a 7.8 share.

Youth broadcaster triple j saw increases across the board excluding the drive slot, taking in a weekday share of 7.5, up 0.8 from the last radio ratings. 

SmoothFM has made the biggest jump however and is now the most listened FM station in the state, with an overall share of 8.1, followed by WSFM which held a 7.7 rating.

While Hamish & Andy experienced their smallest impact in Brisbane with just a 0.2 increase in the drive slot, triple j saw increases in all time slots of the day, with the biggest jumps coming from the weekend share, up 1.8 to hold a 8.5 rating and the drive slot which enjoyed an increase of 1.5 to take out a share of 11.3

For the first time in 2015 Nova took out the crown in the breakfast slot as Kip & Luttsy climbed to a 13.5 share, toppling the former #1 breakfast show on 97.3FM which dropped down a devastating 0.7 from the previous survey to hold a share of 13.0.

Aside from a 0.6 increase in its breakfast slot, triple j experienced slight decreases in every other time for the week, the biggest coming in the afternoon slot, which dropped 0.6 to take a 7.1 share. 

Thanks again to Hamish & Andy, FoxFM enjoyed a big boost, lead by the drive slot which jumped up 1.5 to take out a 10.3 share. 

Triple M again won the FM breakfast war, even though they experienced a 0.3 drop to take out a 9.3 share and dominated competition as Gold came in at second with a share of 7.5 and third place FoxFM who held a 7.3.

Yet again Hamish & Andy boosted figures for Adelaide's Hit107 bumping up the drive slot rating by 1.5 to hold a 9.6 share. 

Triple j's drive slot also enjoyed a nice increase, jumping up 0.9 to hold a 10.1 share. 

Mix 102.3 again brought in the highest breakfast rating with a 13.6 share, beating out Triple M's Roo & Dittsy show which held a share of 10.2.

perth 

The FM breakfast battle was incredibly tight this time around for Perth, though Mix 94.5 won out with a 13.2 share, ahead of Nova 93.7 with a 12.0 share and 96FM's rating of 10.5.

Hamish & Andy's show had the most positive impact on Perth's market, with the drive slot numbers for Hit 92.9 increasing by a massive figure 3.5 to take out a share of 12.8.

Triple j's enjoyed a small increase in its weekday share and climbed 0.2 to hold a 10.6 share, thanks to improved ratings in the morning, afternoon and drive slots.
